Located in the north of Italy this beautiful region is often overlooked by the more well-known areas in the south. Set amongst the peaks of the mighty Dolomites, an Unesco World Heritage Site, this region once belonged to the Austrian-Hungarian empire until the end of WWI when it became a part of Italy. Thus you will experience a unique mix of Italian and Austrian culture with German being the dominant language. You will find road signs and menus in both Italian and German with locals well versed in several languages.

For the adventurous traveler one can enjoy outdoor activities such as hiking, biking, and world-class skiing amongst the high peaks and lush valleys. For the more laid-back traveler, relaxing spa hotels and wineries await you. The landscape is dotted with castles, monasteries, vineyards, apple trees and breathtaking views in every direction.

Visit the world's oldest continuously operating brewery, hike and ski in the Bavarian Alps, or join in at the world’s largest Folkfest at Oktoberfest (known locally as Wiesn).
